We are pleased to announce the addition of Credit Specialist Delfina Gonzalez to our team at our headquarters in Miami, Florida.
Gonzalez, a California native who moved to Florida in 1987, brings more than 20 years’ experience to her role at TACO, having worked in Accounts Receivable in the fuel and food industries prior.
Despite her previous experience, Gonzalez said there is a learning curve at TACO, not just because of its own accounting procedures, but because it is a manufacturing and distribution company with a wide array of products and customers.
“My teammates have been very helpful in helping me learn TACO’s accounting software and procedures,” said Gonzalez, who joined the company in November.
Starting a new job during the global pandemic presented Gonzalez with some challenges, including an interview process with social distancing precautions and face coverings, as well as some in-office training at a distance followed by working from home.
“My coworkers have tried to make it run as smooth as possible by being there whenever I’ve needed assistance,” she added.
In her free time, Gonzalez volunteers with the South Florida chapters of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Autism Speaks.
“Breast cancer has impacted women in my family in a devastating way, making awareness very important for me,” said Gonzalez. “My son was diagnosed with high functioning Asperger’s syndrome. Autism Speaks helped us understand it. My son has overcome this and is fully functional.”
Gonzalez’ son was first diagnosed with Asperger’s at age 8 and is now 22 and will soon graduate from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry with honors.
Looking to the future, Gonzalez said she is excited to continue learning and growing at TACO.
“As an accounts receivable specialist, my goal is to keep accounts current, [and] as I continue to learn and grow at TACO Metals, I will be able to help establish procedures to make this easier,” she said.
From all of us at TACO, welcome to the team, Delfina!
