TACO is proud to announce its sponsorship of the 2022 S.H.A.R.E. KMT charity fishing tournament taking place October 27 through 30 in Surf City, North Carolina.
The tournament, now in its 12th year, angles to raise money toward S.H.A.R.E.’s mission of helping special needs children, their families, and families facing difficult circumstances in North Carolina.
“S.H.A.R.E. stands for SUPPORT, HOPE, ASSIST, REFLECT and EMPOWER,” reads the foundation’s website sharenc.org. “We encourage the concept of ‘Paying it Forward’ throughout our community. We strive to provide for the families who WANT to help themselves and are willing to help others in the process.”
For the tournament, TACO donated a pair of Grand Slam 280 Outrigger Mounts and Aluminum Tele-Outrigger Poles and is a Bronze-level sponsor of the event. The KMT is the nonprofit’s principal fundraising event of the year.
Briana Knight, Executive Director of S.H.A.R.E., said she anticipates 125 to 150 boats to compete in the KMT this year.
During the 2021 event, the tournament raised more than $30,000, which went toward helping 30 North Carolina families.
Knight said what makes S.H.A.R.E. unique is that it is local people coming together to help local families in need.
“It is what makes the organization great,” she said.
Captain Mark Henderson, TACO OEM Sales Manager, said sponsoring S.H.A.R.E.’s annual tournament is important for the company.
“As a company founded on family values, TACO understands the need of family-dynamics,” Henderson said. “When those needs are faced with challenges, it is imperative that organizations like S.H.A.R.E. can step in to help support and stabilize that lasting structure. The efforts Briana Knight and Onslow Bay Boatworks have championed for over 18 years in helping families in need during difficult periods is more than commendable; it is simply critical in local communities. We are, once again, a proud partner with Briana and her team to continue supporting this valuable intervention by sponsoring this year’s S.H.A.R.E. King Mackerel.”
