TACO is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Bluewater Movements Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit Summer Series, a three-leg fishing tournament from May to August in South Florida, for the third consecutive year.
The tournament kicks off with the Saltwater Shootout, Saturday, May 14. Anglers target dolphin, wahoo, kingfish, blackfin tuna and cobia for a chance at more than $200,000 in cash and prizes.
Legs two and three in the series include the Saltwater Slam, Saturday, June 11, and the Saltwater Showdown, Saturday, August 13.
In addition to sponsoring the Summer Series, TACO donated two pairs of Grand Slam 280 Outrigger Mounts, two pairs of 15’ Aluminum Tele-Outrigger Poles and two ShadeFin Kits, which are slated as prizes during the three-leg series.
“As a leader in the center console sport fishing market, TACO wants to partner with professionals and professional events that not only promote the TACO brand but supports the recreational, boating and fishing industry,” said TACO OEM Sales Manager Mark Henderson of why the company began sponsoring the series. “The long-term health of the sport is driven through individuals and families who continue to invest time and money into these activities that help drive our future.”
Founded by Jamie Bunn 26 years ago, Bluewater Movements, Inc., a sports marketing company, has organized and played host to several renown fishing tournaments, including its popular Summer Series and Sailfish Series.
Henderson and his family fishing team, Liquid Fire Fishing, competed in a Bluewater Movements event in 2013 – finishing 8th overall and winning the family team award.
“It was a real highlight for us because of how much respect I have for Jamie, the fishery, and all of the great teams that fish in that region,” said Henderson.
More than 250 teams are expected to compete in this year’s Summer Series, most of which come from the region.
“While we have over 50,000 fans and followers from all around the country and other parts of the globe on social media, the vast majority of our teams that compete in the summer series are from Fort Pierce down to Miami,” explained Bunn.
When it comes to competing in a sport fishing tournament, Bunn said there are five key areas that make Bluewater Movements unique – value, complimentary hospitality, the level of fun, format, and the event’s overall organization.
“The prize structure in each tournament boasts a payout of over 100% in relation to entry fees that are collected, which is not the norm in most tournaments,” Bunn said.
Teams also receive a host of complimentary hospitality, including a Pelagic tournament bag, four angler shirts, food, and drinks.
For fun, Bunn said the tournament events provide activities the whole family can enjoy, including raffles, auctions, fishing clinics for kids, a live DJ and a “rock star-sized stage for the weigh-ins that makes for a great experience for the teams as well as spectators.”
Bunn equates the Summer Series format as like that of March Madness, the World Series and NASCAR – providing anglers a championship-style trophy that is awarded to the top overall team in the three-part series.
“Everyone loves a well-run, well-organized event, and anglers know that is exactly what they are going to get from beginning to end when they participate in a Bluewater Movements-run fishing tournament,” Bunn said.
Henderson agreed.
“Jamie and his team understand not only what fisher people need from an event, but also what drives families to want to participate,” added Henderson. “They promote very well, have great captain’s parties and an established format that people like. The professionalism and organization of the tournaments is evident from sign-up to weigh-in.”
